Jester Music is a free Linux media manager with local playback, CD tools, an Android companion, offline downloads, Android Auto, profiles, internet radio, and private streaming from your own computer.

Profiles that feel personal

Each person gets their own My Music collection, playlists, favorites, listening history, recommendations, and saved radio stations. Listening counts sync to that profile without mixing one person’s taste into another’s.

Radio without sharing your login

Browse public stations or add a direct HTTPS audio stream. Radio uses an isolated connection and never receives your private music-server token. Saved stations stay with the active profile and appear in Android Auto.

Local weather interruptions

Android users in the United States can opt in to checks for nearby urgent National Weather Service warnings while listening. Severe or extreme warnings pause playback and let the listener decide when to resume.

Coordinates stay in memory, go directly to weather.gov, and are never saved by Jester Music. This feature supplements official emergency alerts and requires internet and location access.

Set up your own DNS streaming

  1. Create a hostname such as music.example.com and point its DNS record to your server or tunnel provider.
  2. Put Caddy, Nginx, or a private tunnel in front of 127.0.0.1:8795. Expose HTTPS port 443 only; never expose 8794 or 8795 directly.
  3. Preserve the public Host header and use a valid TLS certificate.
  4. Save the hostname in ~/.config/jester-music/server.env, restart the user service, and pair phones again.

Jester Music Free Software Agreement 1. Free permission. The Jester Wins gives you a non-exclusive, revocable permission to download, install, and use Jester Music without paying The Jester Wins. You may make reasonable backup copies for yourself or your organization. 2. No sale or paid redistribution. You may not sell, rent, sublicense for a fee, charge for access to, bundle into a paid product or service, or otherwise receive payment for Jester Music. Do not redistribute the installer; send people to the official download page so they receive the current release and accept these terms. 3. Ownership and notices. Jester Music and its original branding remain the property of The Jester Wins. You may not remove the free-software notice, copyright notice, or other ownership notices, or claim that you created the original software. 4. Your media and systems. You are responsible for the media you manage, the devices and DNS names you configure, and compliance with laws that apply to your use. This agreement does not grant rights to copyrighted music or other media. 5. No warranty. The software is provided as-is and as available, without warranties to the extent allowed by law. Back up your library and test streaming and disc-writing features before relying on them. 6. Enforcement. Selling the software or otherwise violating these terms immediately ends your permission to use or distribute it. The Jester Wins may pursue legal action and remedies available under applicable law, including an injunction and recoverable damages. 7. Electronic agreement. By checking the agreement box and requesting the download, you confirm that you read and agree to this version of the agreement.

Privacy notice: your name, email, phone number, agreement version, and acceptance time are stored in the site’s encrypted private records to document this license.
