Jester Music is free. Run your own library and stream it your way.
Jester Music 0.8.3 adds private profiles, internet radio, and optional local weather interruptions.
A clean public build
Jester Music 0.8.3 is a free Linux media manager, CD studio, private streaming server, and Android companion. This update adds separate My Music collections and listening history for each profile, public internet radio, saved stations in Android Auto, and optional local weather interruptions.
The public packages contain no personal library data, playlists, household profiles, listening history, saved stations, locations, paired phones, device tokens, certificates, private keys, local paths, or media.
Jester Music is free. If you paid for this software, contact [email protected].
Location stays on the phone
Weather interruptions are off until the listener enables them. While audio is playing, the Android app sends the current coordinates directly to the National Weather Service to find active nearby warnings. Jester Music keeps the location only in memory, never writes coordinates to storage, and stops checking when playback stops. It is a supplemental feature, not a replacement for official emergency alerts.
Bring your own hostname
Remote streaming can use a DNS hostname you control. The guide covers HTTPS, a loopback-only upstream, port and firewall rules, pairing again after configuration, and testing away from Wi-Fi. Home-only streaming and offline downloads continue to work without public DNS.
Why there is a signup
The download page asks for your name, email, and phone and shows the complete free-software agreement beside the checkbox. The agreement prohibits selling the software, charging for access, or bundling it into something paid. Contact details and acceptance records stay in the website’s encrypted private store and never appear in the software or public page source.
